Walthers Proto 920-42521 EMD FP7A/F7B Locomotive Set DCC/ESU Loksound 5 Soo Line 'Maroon Dulux Gold Black' SOO #2501A/C

Providing enough steam to power train heat and some air conditioning systems on postwar trains taxed the standard water supply of EMD F units set-up for passenger service, prompting EMD to rollout the new FP7 in 1949. Though outwardly similar, FP7s were four feet longer to accommodate bigger water tanks with a capacity of 950 US gallons. FP7s became standard passenger power into the Amtrak era and beyond, with some handling additional freight chores on many railroads.

These models are fully assembled and feature:

  • New tooling matches the prototypes' extended frame and body
  • Railroad-specific details
  • Limited edition - one-time run of these engine numbers
  • Five-pole, skew-wound, high-torque, high-efficiency can motor
  • Helical gears with 14:1 ratio for smooth, ultra-quiet running
  • Easy multiple-unit operation
  • Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers

Resplendent in their original maroon and Dulux Gold scheme, these HO Scale WalthersProto replicas are complete with:

  • Leslie A200-156 air horn
  • Firecracker radio antenna
  • Upper twin sealed-beam Mars / lower single reflector headlights
  • Steam generator with exhaust deflector
  • Screen-type spark arrestors
  • Early winterization hatch
  • Engineer's side nose grab irons
  • Freight pilot

The matching F7B features:

  • Screen-type spark arrestors
  • Early winterization hatch
  • Steam generator with exhaust deflector

**Lombard Hobbies Recommendation - As modelers ourselves we highly recommend ONLY running DCC on DCC systems and DC on DC systems, regardless of 'Dual-Mode' capability. This gives optimum performance and safeguards the unit from possible damage from running on a different system than originally intended and from any inexperienced operator errors.
