From coach and freight yards to primary power for shortlines, this WalthersMainline SW7 is a perfect choice for your HO layout. Delivering 1200-horsepower from an updated 567A prime mover, the prototypes proved popular with both railroads and industrial lines, with nearly 500 produced in just two years.

Walthers Mainline SW7
Once again Walthers has done a wonderful job on their line of EMD switchers. I purchased the NYC,DCC ready version in NYC paint. The paint is evenly applied, lettering is sharp, opaque down to the smallest lettering. Even the NYC lettering for F , 1,2 etc on the frame, unit number on the sides of the headlight are legible and accurately applied. For my DC version, it ran smoothly and quietly right out of the box. This is my 6th EMD switcher purchase of the Walthers model and I haven’t been disappointed yet. If you are starting out, it need a yard or branchline switcher don’t overlook this model. With its detailing, excellent paint and running quality it’s worth your investment!
