This 1-amp Digital Sound Decoder simply plugs into models equipped with an NEM-supported 21-pin socket. It includes a connector which can be easily wired to a CurrentKeeper to maintain performance over dirty track and switches.

Excellent Sound at a Budget Price

These decoders are a piece of cake to install in locomotives with the 21 pin connector, Truly plug and play once a speaker is added. You do need to check the sound files to be sure it will match your locomotive. While it supports many diesel prime movers, it does not cover them all.
Quality product to be sure.

I've purchased several of these decoders to use in my GP40-2, SD40-2 and SD60 locomotives. They work pretty well with Athearn locomotives.
