Description

Caboose Industries 204S Ground Throw - Sprung Hi-Level Switch Stand with .190" travel for HO & S

These Caboose Industries operating Hi-level switch stands are patterned after the type used by the Milwaukee Road and many other railroads.   A connector receptacle on either end of the slide bar permits selective mounting positions for the most favorable handle swing.  180 degree handle rotation turns the target 90 degrees through small gears.  Six paintable, bondable ABS targets – including a lantern and a square/diamond – are included, along with enough .025 inch diameter #22 wire rod for an eight-foot-high target.  Targets can be made to operate from below the table on electrically controlled turnouts.

All Caboose Industries ground throws are molded of strong, self-lubricating black Delrin.  An external cam provides maximum life and travel for each model.  The ingenious design provides a positive lock in both straight and curved directions of throw, effective from 10° above horizontal to the full down position.  A detent assists in holding the handle horizontal for installation purposes.

Caboose Industries ground throws are useful in a variety of scales and applications.  All Caboose Industries ground throws are available in sprung and rigid configurations.

Sprung ground throws (Series 200S) feature two internal stainless steel springs to take up the overtravel and maintain tension upon switchpoints against the turnout stock rail.  The springs are preloaded to a 6-ounce force, assisting in good electrical contact between points and stock rail and aiding in turnout installation.

Rigid ground throws (Series 100R) are fully-functioning stands that require the hobbyist to supply a spring link between the slidebar and turnout throwbar.  Rigid models are recommended when the ground throw must be mounted some distance from the turnout; normally, ground throw motion is transmitted via a spring wire running through a tube to the turnout mechanism.
