Walthers Cornerstone HO 933-3061 Sunrise Feed Mill - Kit

The kit goes together very well, It is a compact model once finished, typical size of a structure of this type when built in the early 1900's that is good for a layout in the present day. It's molded in a darkish gray plastic so you'll want to paint it. I used regular flat spray paint bought at the store, black, and off white. The roof is molded a slightly darker color. I used a fresh exacto blade to cut slits in the plastic to simulate individual boards with staggered joints. You may want to wash your parts, I chose not to. I painted it similar to the model shown on this page except with a black roof, and kept the window panes the color they are molded in and it turned out very good. One thing I must say, when building these kits, the plastic is very slippery, lightly sand each piece you want to join together with a light file to give the glue something to grab or bite into, then you're set, the parts will join very easily. Also, the loading dock shown on the back of the building as shown, the simulated concrete ledges that it rests on must be sanded down about a centimetre or two to fit, otherwise it won't seat right and will be glued in crooked. Also, the loading dock piece doesn't have the molded slots in it to locate the slabs, just eye it. As of now I have no where to place it on the layout, I just always wanted to build this kit. Very fun.
