A signature diesel for your HO railroad, the WalthersProto GP9 Phase II with High Hood is a real workhorse. With revised tooling and road-specific details, the models are based on prototypes built from 1955 to 1957 (known to modelers and railfans as the "phase two" version), and many are still in service today.
Chicago & North Western-specific details include:
- Short hood forward operation
- Non-dynamic brake long hood with 36" radiator fans and rooftop access hatches
- Simplified skirt with single fuel filler, drop step, plain pilots
- Late Pyle dual sealed-beam headlights
- Brass Nathan P5 air horn
