Prototype Information:

There’s nothing quite like a train to bring a nation together. An entrepreneur by the name of Ross Rowland Jr. shared a similar sentiment as America’s bicentennial approached. Inspired by the 1947 Freedom Train, which traveled the country following World War II, the bicentennial American Freedom Train would visit all 48 contiguous United States between 1975 and 1976 as a traveling display of American artifacts and camaraderie. The tour would make stops in 140 communities, with Southern Pacific GS-4 locomotive #4449 leading the charge for much of the tour. 

Expand your American Freedom Train to include more cars from the authentic consist with four 72' smooth-side exhibit cars. Each real-life car featured walk-through displays of historic American artifacts, while external shadow boxes and artwork panels represented two decades of American history on each side of the car. These models feature the prototypically correct external artwork for each of the four cars represented, attractively lighted for optimum realism.
