Atlas Master Silver Series HO 10004585 DCC Ready U28C Locomotive Seaboard System CSXT #3526
Prototype Information:
The General Electric U28C locomotive, developed in 1966, provided a 300 horsepower increase over its predecessor, the U25C. Built on a larger frame than the U25C, the model also incorporated other improvements, such as new floating bolster trucks. A passenger-hauling variant, the U28CG, was produced for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. These units were painted in the timeless red and silver Warbonnet paint scheme and put into service on the Texas Chief, replacing well aged F units. Upon being retired from freight service the U28CGs were repainted into the standard Santa Fe freight colors of blue and yellow.
Features:
- All new tooling.
- Etched metal grilles.
- Several cab, headlight and nose light variations to accurately match the prototype.
- Separately applied details parts.
- New! Factory equipped with metal knuckle couplers.
- DC and Sound versions available.
Silver Sound Ready
- Atlas Silver Sound Ready models are equipped with a speaker for easy conversion to sound with the addition of a decoder.
Atlas Master® Series Silver Additional Features:
- NMRA 21-pin plug for DCC.**
**Lombard Hobbies Recommendation - As modelers ourselves we highly recommend ONLY running DCC on DCC systems and DC on DC systems, regardless of 'Dual-Mode' capability. This gives optimum performance and safeguards the unit from possible damage from running on a different system than originally intended and from any inexperienced operator errors.
