These 2-bay covered hoppers with Barber Roller Bearing trucks were built in 1994 for the Chicago & North Western and had a 263,000-pound capacity, and is based on cars built beginning in the 1960s, making it ideal for your diesel-era freight into the 2020s and beyond. Covered hoppers such as this are used for hauling grain, fertilizer, frac sand and other bulk, granulated materials. . Soon they found themselves merged into the Union Pacific fleet of cars. Union Pacific continues to operate today as one of the largest Class 1 railroads in North America with over 32,000 miles of track.
