Micro Trains Line N 045 00 750 50’ Flatcar with Fishbelly Sides with Boat Load Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe ATSF #91500
Built in the late 1920s, this 50’ flatcar with fishbelly sides and Bettendorf trucks was used in general service for large loads, such as industrial equipment, construction supplies, farm machinery or in this case as a war time transporter of the LVCP boats.
During WWII the 'Higgens Boat' or Landing Craft Vehicle Personnel 'LVCP' was designed to get troops and equipment from Naval ships to shore safely and efficiently. The Higgens did just that. They served in every theater of the war and lasted well into the last half of the20th Century.
