Description
Micro Trains Line N 038 00 551 50' Plug-Door Boxcar No Roofwalk Solar Eclipse 2024 MTLX #4824
The total solar eclipse of April 8, 2024, also known as the Great North American Eclipse, was visible across much of the contiguous United States and parts of Mexico and Canada.
A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, obscuring the Sun. A total solar eclipse, like this one, occurs when the Moon's apparent diameter is larger than the Sun's, blocking all direct sunlight across a limited path on the Earth.
The images on this commemorative boxcar were taken in Cleveland, Ohio by MTL Graphic Artist Brandon T, and represent a progression of the eclipse over 2.5 hours, showing solar prominences and coronal streamers.
This car is based on cars built beginning in the 1940s which had their roofwalks removed beginning in the 1960s. Cars modernized for safety retained their high-mount brakewheel and in this case their ladders and many operated into the early 2000s.
Features:
- Free-rolling Delrin trucks with contoured axles
- Truck-mounted Magne-Matic couplers
- Diecast metal underframes or interior weights
- Thin-profile foot stirrups
- Brake wheels
- Fine decoration.
