Dart Container Line Co Ltd, incorporated in Bermuda in 1969, commenced operations as a consortium of British and Canadian shipping companies and becoming one of the first container shipping operators. The company operated between Antwerp and Southampton in Europe and Halifax, New York, and Norfolk in North America.  The company continued to operate as ownership was passed to several different companies, when in 1983 Orient Overseas Container Line, OOCL, took over completely, merging it into itself and discontinuing operations as Dart Container Line.
