MOL ‘Mitsui O.S.K. Lines’ was founded in 1964, following the merger of Osaka Shosen Kaisha ‘OSK’ founded in 1878, and Mitsui Steamship Co., Ltd. founded in 1942, formerly Mitsui Line. At that time the company was the largest shipping company in Japan. Mitsui OSK Lines, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha agreed to merge their container shipping business operating under the name ‘Ocean Network Express’ from 1st of April 2018.
