WalthersProto HO 920-9873 85' P-S 10-6 Sleeper with Blunt End DELUXE 2 Southern Pacific SP #9040
Delivered new in 1950 and fitted as 10-6 sleepers (Plan 4140D), five were assigned to the "City of San Francisco" pool in UP colors, two were assigned to the "Cascade" finished in two-tone gray and two for the "Golden State" in bright silver with red upper sides and roof.
These unique cars were used in place of traditional observation-lounge cars as a way to generate more revenue. Each was fitted with a blunt end with a small window and an emergency escape door, along with markers and a back-up light.
Other features include:
- One time run of these names and numbers - limited quantities available
- Fully assembled with superb WalthersProto detail inside and out
- Factory-finished in authentic UP colors
- Owning road's name in letter board
- Mix and match for a custom consist or expand other period streamliners
- Factory-installed grab irons
- Prototypically accurate window tinting and gaskets as appropriate
- Superb detail inside and out
- Modeler-installed extended drawbars for 22" radius curves included
- Correct 36" RP-25 metal wheelsets
- Proto MAX metal knuckle couplers
PLEASE NOTE: As these cars are the correct prototype length and feature full underbody detail to match the prototypes, a minimum 24" radius is recommended for operation.
