Early in its merger, Penn Central decided it needed more color for its locomotives and cars. No wholesale rebranding took place, only a small alteration to its existing paint scheme: a red letter “p” and later an orange “c”. This minor change took place on less than 200 locomotives but was eagerly followed by Penn Central fans!
