Burlington Northern Prairie Rails Color Pictorial

I went through the book. Gordon Brandvold, author took the photos. Most of the locations are in the Dakotas and Montana along the old Northern Pacific and Great Northern. Gordon takes good photos. Text accompanying photos is done well. He has good shots of Valley City, ND. The original line dipped down to town along the Sheyenne River. Must have been quite a sight to see freights barrel down the hill to make it up again. Gordon has good views of the steel trestle line relocation in the early 1950s when the Northern Pacific eliminated the dip. A new passenger station was built on the fill out of town and there is a photo of that. I for one appreciate the photos of Jason and Eric, his two young sons posing by trains. Kudos to Joseph Shine for yet another fine railroad book production. I feel Four Ways West are the highest quality color railroad books you can buy.
